CHELAN -- Bank of America and Cashmere Valley Bank are taking donations for Clayton Kimsey, the 15-year-old Chelan High School freshman who suffered severe burns over most of his body when he tried to light a bonfire with gasoline on the 100 block of Union Valley Road on Jan. 15.

Raab camps in ShelterBox so others can live in them
CHELAN -- Before Chelan High School kids could set up a ShelterBox for Assistant Principal Scott Raab, they had to dig out about a foot of snow.
Raab, who agreed to stay in the ShelterBox tent one minute for each dollar the school's Interact Club raised, began his sit-in with the challenge of staying in the tent for at least 47 hours.

Manson schools offer free adult tech classes
"When children see their parents continue to be learners, they witness the importance of education. Research indicates that the importance that parents place on education is an indicator of student success." Aurora Flores, board member, Manson Schools will be offering a free series of classes designed for parents and community members.
The first session of these courses will be offered on Jan. 26 at Manson Secondary School in conjunction with a Manson Inc., parent meeting.

Manson Elementary para-educator Johnny Rigg is a perfect example, in fact, some might even call him a "superhero." He combats evil with his superpowers of positive attitude, playful energy and steady persistence.

FISHIN MAGICIAN: Triploids biting at Rufus Woods
I got some good reports for folks that are interested in fishing for triploid rainbow at Rufus Woods Reservoir.
Adam Langer and his Dad fished Rufus Woods recently and had a great day, landing triploids weighing 6, 7, 10 and 12 pounds. Not bad.

It was an up and down night for the guys. When we pushed the tempo and intensity we played well. When we sat back we did not. Overall we received great support and a much needed presence on the glass from Alex Vanderholm.

CHELAN -- The Chelan boys basketball team rallied from an 8-point first-quarter deficit to tie visiting Okanogan, 29-29, with 7:07 left in the third quarter Jan. 13.
But Okanogan scored 14 unanswered points in about 3 minutes to take a commanding 43-29 lead Chelan could not overcome.

The ABA is seeking individuals willing to distribute books as well as outlet locations willing to house extra copies of 30 specially-selected titles for individual book distributors to pick up.

Thief commits a smoking crime
CHELAN -- When Safeway employees showed up for work in the fueling station kiosk early Wednesday morning they discovered the glass broken out of the front door and a few cartons of cigarettes were missing, according to a Chelan County Sheriff's deputy.
