The Chelan High School Five Star Club hopes to send its students to a state competition in Wenatchee this April.
But before they can attend, the club has to earn the money to get there.
That's why the high school club, formally known as Family, Career and Community Leadership of America, will volunteer at, and receive money raised from, a Taste of Chelan Restaurant Walk, Friday March 1.
The event, which will run from 5 to 7 p.m. at eight local restaurants, is part of the Historic Downtown Chelan Association's First Friday.
Participants get a small serving, mostly entrees, from area restaurants, said Five Star Club Advisor, Nancy Wilmot.
Tickets are $25 each.
Wilmot said the Five Star Club hopes to send two members to the state job interview competition this spring, then help create a bigger community event next year that will bring enough money to send most or all members to a competition next year.
