A special blue Christmas star
By Ken Marques

The very first Christmas was about to begin and all of Heaven was excited and ready to celebrate the great announcement of the birth of Jesus.
Gabriel and hundreds of angels were rehearsing new songs.
There was just one problem, the angel Gabriel couldn't find the horn he planned to use to make the announcement to the shepherds' in the field near Bethlehem.
Then, Gabriel remembered that last night he had left his horn just outside the Pearly Gates resting on a cloud with a silver lining. He had been so busy with the rehearsals that he forgot to bring the horn back into Heaven.
Everything was ready for the greatest of all celebrations... except for the horn. It was not where Gabriel had left it! Many angels began looking for the horn. A short time later, a message was sent up to Heaven from a small group of naughty angels who didn't like where they were now living.
The message read... "Gabriel's horn is hidden somewhere between Heaven and Earth and the only way to get it back is to let all of us naughty angels back into Heaven".
Gabriel knew that he could not allow the naughty angels into Heaven because they never tell the truth.
Meanwhile, on a small gray cloud somewhere between Heaven and Earth a little star was hiding under a basket. You see... the little star felt sad and really didn't know why. "Could I be the only little star with sad feelings"? "Should I talk to someone about how I feel"? Will anyone listen to me?" These were the thoughts running through the little stars mind. Rather than talk about these feelings with someone who could help, the little star decided to hide his feelings and himself.
The naughty angel who took Gabriel's horn saw the upside-down basket on the little gray cloud and thought this would be the perfect place to hide the horn. So he lifted up the rim of the basket just enough to push the horn under it. The naughty angel missed seeing the star because the little star had barely any shine at all.
Well, during the search for the horn, one of the good angels was told about a little sad star that was hiding under a basket on a small gray cloud. This good angel took it upon herself to see what she could do to cheer up the little star.
The good angel was more than glad to help and she began looking for the little gray cloud with the upside down basket. When she found it, she knocked on the top of the basket. A small voice came from under the basket saying, "There's no one important here...and besides I'm very busy right now".
"Everyone and everything made by God is important or it would not have been made," said the good angel.
Hmmm...thought the little star; "That does make sense". So the little star lifted the edge of the basket and peeked out at the good angel.
The good angel smiled and said, "I just dropped by to say hello and to help you find out what's making you feel so sad...Tell me little star, what are you doing under a basket?"
"Not much said the little star. I take naps and think about how the world at times is so unfair. I think about how other stars seem to shine so bright and I'm so dim. But then just yesterday someone put a horn under my basket. It looked like it could use some shining up. So I've been cleaning it and the horn is looking better and I'm feeling a little better too." "I think my shine is getting brighter, said the little star."
"May I see what you've been working on?" said the angel.
When the little star lifted the basket...the angel was amazed. The little star was changing from a dim blue to shiny yellow.
Next to the star was Gabriel's horn...better than ever...it was so bright and the little star was getting even brighter. The angel was so happy to have found Gabriel's horn and at the same time help the little star understand one of the secrets for getting rid of sad feelings and getting happy feelings. The secret is...
...Helping others always makes you feel good!
And you know the rest of the story...Gabriel blew his horn on that special Christmas morning and all the angels in Heaven sang, "Joy to the World for the Lord has come."
And because the little star made Gabriel's horn look better, Gabriel gave the little star a very special honor.
The little star became the official "Christmas Star" and was placed over the city of Bethlehem on the very first Christmas morning to mark the place where the baby Jesus was born.
And to this day, many families put a "Star" or an "Angel" on the very top of their Christmas tree to remind them of the wonderful celebration of the birth of Jesus.
By the way...the good angel was given a special honor as well. Her wings were painted bright red, orange, green and blue. And each time the sun shines after it rains, the little angel flies across the sky leaving a trail of Rainbow colors.
