Larry Mack Cox

Larry's trademark smile and infectious laughter are forever in our hearts. He likely didn't realize the indelible ripple effect of his warmth. But he lived his life by these truths: treat people with remarkable kindness. Laugh with your whole body. Make those you care about feel special. The women in your life are always right. Be generous and fair. Work hard. Stand up for those who can't stand up for themselves. Let your granddogs lick your face, and play it cool when you're accused of sneaking them food.
Larry was born October 4, 1943, the son of Opal and Mack Cox. He graduated from Chelan High School in 1963, and went to work for Palmer G. Lewis lumber supply company. In 1966 he married the love of his life, Linda Scrupps, and together they raised two children, Lisa and David.
With his father, he owned and worked at Builder's Lumber Company. After his father retired and they sold the lumber company, Larry and Linda bought the Chelan Shoe Store. Through the store, he gave shoes to students who couldn't afford them. Always a dedicated worker, he continued to work for Lake Chelan Building Supply after retirement.
He lived a life he loved. Larry coached soft ball, and his memberships in fraternal organizations ran strong - the "Untouchables" car club, Jaycees, Eagles, Lions, Echo Valley Ski Club, Lake Chelan Snowmobile Club, and the Lake Chelan Boat Club. He loved the lake; if he wasn't on the boat or waterskiing, his favorite seat in the house always had the best view of the water. Larry would willingly throw an elbow to reach the clams/deviled eggs/chocolate cake before his adult children and grandchildren. But most of all, Larry loved his family.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Cox; daughter Lisa Cox Massey (Mark Semkiw); son David Cox (Fianna Dickson Cox); grandchildren Andrew Massey and Mackenzie Massey; sister Sharon Tipton (Pat Rhea); sibling-in-laws Gary and Judy Scrupps; and granddogs Lucy and Brandy.
Larry fought a courageous battle with Multiple Systems Atrophy; on September 11, he joined the angels. The family extends a special thank you to Lake Chelan Community Hospital nursing staff and Tobe Harberd, MD. We're sure Larry would have also liked to thank those who helped him live life to the fullest.
A celebration of Larry's life will be held at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, Chelan, on Saturday, September 21 at 1 p.m. In leui of flowers, donations may be made in Larry's name to St. Andrew's Memorial Fund.
Services have been entrusted to Precht Rose Chapel, Chelan.

WANTING TO SEND THE CONDOLENCES AND PRAYERS TO MY CLASSMATES..DAVID AND LISA, AND CHRISTINA..AND THEIR CHILDREN..AS WELL,THE LOVELY MRS, COX.
I DON'T LIVE IN THE VICINITY ANY LONGER BUT I HAVE TO SAY, WHEN A FAMILY MEMBER IS LOST THERE, IT ECHOS DOWN HERE..AND ACROSS, AND LARRY WAS A GOOD MAN WITH A GOOD HEART. PEOPLE KNEW OF HIS KINDNESS, AND WERE VERY FORTUNATE TO KNOW HIM. I WOULDN'T DOUBT AT SOME POINT IF MY FAMILY WERE ONE OF THE ONES THAT HE ASSISTED IN SHOES OR SOMETHING..ONE WINTER..AS WE HAD SOME TOUGH ONES, FOR THE MOST PART, THE CHELAN I KNEW..ARE THE PEOPLE THAT LOVED EACH OTHER FOR WHOM THEY WERE AND PROTECTED EACH OTHER.."HE WAS THE EPITOMY OF JUST THAT.."..RAISED A SON THAT ALWAYS WAS A GENTLEMAN AS FAR AS I KNEW..NOT TO MENTION..HAD A GOOD SENSE OF HUMOR..I KNOW MY SISTER WAS IN LISA'S CLASS. OR CRISTINA'S..SO MY PRAYERS GO TO THE FAMILY, TO KNOW THAT THERE ARE PEOPLE THAT DON'T LIVE IN THE AREA MUCH LESS THE STATE, THAT STILL NOT ONLY REACH OUT..BUT LOVE AND HURT, AND SMILE WITH YOU ALL, AND WITH THIS IS A TEAR, AND A SMILE..TO REJOICE THE LIFE OF MY FELLOW FRIEND'S FATHER. WHICH WHOM DID HIS BEST TO HELP A COMMUNITY BETTER, BUT ADJUSTING THE TONE THAT YOU TREAT OTHERS.."..MAY THE GOOD LORD BRING PEACE AND MEMORIES IN THE ..REMEMBRANCE OF MR COX'S LIFE..AND LOVE TO THOSE IN THE FAMILY, AND THE CHILDREN..HE WILL BE MISSED..NEAR AND FAR..WITH A HEAVY HEART..BUT ONE THAT CAN REJOICE HIS LIFE..LOVE AND RESPECTS JODY LEE MILAM
