Donna Mae Sorensen

October 1, 1944 - February 3, 2014
On the morning of Feb. 3, 2014, Donna Mae (Shipton) Sorensen passed away after a brief and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Her family would like to extend a heart-felt thank you and our deepest appreciation to the wonderful doctors and staff at Loma Linda University Medical Center for the unbelievable care they provided to Donna and our family during her stay.
Donna and her husband Paul Sorensen were married for nearly 35 years. Together they were partners in Ewing Electric, an electrical contracting company based in Edmonds, Wash. She and Paul were long-time members of the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) and enjoyed many years of working, travel, and dear friendships as part of that organization.
Donna and Paul had recently retired to their home in Lake Chelan. There, Donna delighted in gardening and entertaining friends and family. Chelan is a place of many fond memories, family reunions and social gatherings. She also enjoyed motor coach adventures with Paul across the Western U.S. in recent years.
Donna thoroughly enjoyed taking care of other people, whether it be her husband Paul, close family members, or friends. For the past several years, she relished the role as "Gram" to her three grandchildren and "Auntie" to her grandnephews and nieces, always looking forward to the next opportunity to see them. This past summer, with many thanks to Donna, the immediate family was blessed with the chance to create lasting memories with a week-long vacation to Hawaii.
Donna is survived by her loving husband Paul Sorensen; her step-daughter Kristine Sorensen and grandchildren Abbie and Gracie; her step-son Erik Sorensen, wife Dawn, and grandson Christian. She is also survived by her brother Jim Shipton, wife Liz, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, and many friends whom she loved dearly. Donna will be truly missed by all.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, March 8, at 1 p.m. at the Edmonds United Methodist Church in Edmonds, Wash. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Loma Linda University Medical Center, Attn Philanthropy Office. PO Box 2000, Loma Linda, CA 92354. Please note donation made in memory of Donna Mae Sorensen. Online contributions may be made at (Designation Type: Medical Center; Designation: Other, then type "Oncology Fund In Memory of Donna Mae Sorensen".)
