Fire agency welcomes new volunteers
CHELAN - The monthly Chelan Fire and Rescue Commissioner's meeting was held Wednesday, April 8 at the main fire station located at 232 East Wapato in Chelan. Chief Tim Lemon announced he had received $800 from the Lake Chelan Rotary Club towards the purchase of four new AED's (portable defibrillators). Lemon also said the department was welcoming four new volunteers to its ranks bringing the number of new volunteers to eight since the start of 2015. In a related topic, Commissioner Rick Nedrow's seat on the commission is up for election in the fall with candidates' registration deadline May 11 - May 15. Nedrow, pictured below, has not yet said whether he will seek re-election nor has any other citizen publicly announced their intentions of running for the four-year position. Extra DUI patrols until Jan. 1
WENATCHEE - Chelan, Douglas and Okanogan Counties, WA - The holiday season is nearly upon us, and the Washington Traffic Safety Commission (WTSC) would like to remind Washingtonians to plan ahead and use alternative transportation after drinking alcohol or using marijuana during celebrations.
Preliminary Fatality Analysis Reporting (FARS) data shows more than 500 traffic deaths so far in 2015, nearly 100 more reported deaths than this time last year.

Deputy Francis retires, Duke takes over as local school resource officer
Sheriff Brian Burnett would like to announce the retirement of Deputy Bob Francis who joined the Sheriff's Office in March of 1989. Deputy Francis provided not only patrol duties but most recently he was the School Resource Officer for the Chelan and Manson School Districts.
