The Message: Testify

A wise man once said, you don't have to defend the tiger, just open the cage and let the tiger defend himself.

Tonight I wanted to teach my daughter something. I just had a point to make, or so I thought. But, after talking myself into a hole and going round and round the bottom of that hole I realized I was as empty as that hole. I had nothing to give my daughter except ... I had my passion. I couldn't prove I knew anything but I could prove that I cared, and sometimes that's enough.

I used to go round and round with people on the internet, and still do at times, in discussions of faith issues. I'm fairly well studied and can hold my ground; I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able ... that is until this one guy began following me around the internet. Whenever I proclaimed anything to do with creation he would absolutely hammer me with biology and why he believed in evolution. I finally realized all I had was my certainty and for all his book knowledge he couldn't argue with my testimony.

I watched a secular reporter interview a fellow who worked at a Creation camp and taught biblical creation. She asked him point blank - If science evidence says one thing and the Bible says another which will you believe? I had so many great responses to that question that I was dumbfounded when the fellow just said he would believe the Bible. I thought to myself as I winced that this is what makes Christians look so dumb, that we dismiss science. Later it occurred to me why his answer was best. Because science books change every couple years and there is almost nothing in science that was known as fact one hundred years ago but our scriptures have been certain since time began. The scriptures have proven themselves far more trustworthy over the years but this guy stared ridicule in the face and made the point...he believes the word of God.

What if... imagine someone made you this challenge. If they could prove to you that evolution was true would you stop teaching biblical creation? Let's take it to the next level. If some scientist could prove God did not exist would you put away your Bible? It doesn't matter how smart you are this is a foolish bet. All you're saying is, "If you are smarter than me I'll give up my faith". The correct response would be, "My faith is not dependant on my ability to prove anything". It's not true because I can prove it, it's true because I've experienced it. It's true because I can testify that what is in that Word has been shown to me supernaturally to be faultless and absolute.

Your testimony is the most powerful weapon in your arsenal. "Man can argue with an argument but not with a changed life."

When all you have is your passion it's all that's needed to be used by God for His purpose. God doesn't need you to argue for Him. Most of the time you just need to open the book. "Thus sayeth the Lord" is the best answer to the most intellectual challenge. My voice will never carry as far as God's voice.

If anyone demands to know why you believe and trust the bible the easiest answer is the best one, "Because I've read it." There are people out there who could argue very reasonably that God does not exist. The best way to disprove that is simply to bring God into the room. Open the word of God and let His Word and work proclaim Himself.

If anyone asks why you believe, the best response you can give is to show what He has done in your life and in the lives of those around you. Testify!

God healed me from addiction. Really, there is nothing else I can say with more certainty than that when my faith is challenged. Let me tell you about how He healed me because you have nothing that can counter that or make that untrue. God is real - He is who He says He is and I know it because I'm not who I once was...simple as that. Testify!
