Chamber updates council
The Lake Chelan Chamber of Commerce gave a presentation at last Thursday's City Council meeting.
Chamber Board of Directors President Lester Cooper began the presentation to the council, highlighting the new Chamber of Commerce website and showing off some of the features and functions of the site. He spoke about the chamber trying to target the off-season market more, saying that January lodging tax dollars were up 49 percent in 2014.
Chamber of Commerce Marketing Manager Lacey Lybecker spoke to the chamber about some of the market research collected by the chamber. She highlighted that the research was done on the I-5 corridor, and that the information was used to develop a brand framework and the new Lake Chelan Chamber of Commerce logo.
Cooper came up and spoke again following Lybecker, saying that the chamber hopes to close on the Columbia Furniture building by the end of April so they can renovate the building from May through October, so it can hold the chamber offices and also be a new visitor center for Lake Chelan.
"Lake Chelan needs a visitor center that is as good as it gets when they come here, and want to see what Lake Chelan has to offer," Cooper said.
