There will be something for everyone at Entiat's summer spectacular Summerfest/Rods on the River, Saturday, June 21. Both events are sponsored by the Entiat Valley Chamber of Commerce.
Because of construction on the Entiat City Park, they will be held this year at Kiwanis Park, located right in town along Highway 97A.
According to Summerfest organizer Charlie Cooper, there will be at least 14 vendors offering arts and crafts, as well as food, including barbecue by the popular Redneck Boys. Games are planned for kids, as well as the Tiger Bouncy House. Vendor booths are still available until the day of the event at $20 each.
This year a new 5K (3 mile) run will be held, part of which will be on the new waterfront trail along the Columbia River. Pets are welcome to participate also. Cost for the run is $5, or $15 with a commemorative t-shirt.
"This is going to be a fun event for the whole family," Cooper said. For more information, contact him at 509-784-1465 or Cooper4230@frontier.com
Summerfest begins at 9 a.m. and will run until 5 p.m.
Rods on the River will take place at the same location and will showcase vintage, classic, custom and rare cars as well as motorcycles. Pre-registration to enter vehicles is $20, or $25 on the day of the event. A swap meet booth is $15 extra. To enter or for more information, visit the Entiat Chamber of Commerce's Facebook page and look under "albums."
Organizer Norman Stenberg of Stormin' Norman's Towing and Auto Repair promises prizes for the winners. He can be reached at Normanevcc@yahoo.com or 509-670-5157.
Unique to the event this year is a "junk car" contest featuring cars put together from random parts. The winner will receive a "junk trophy" similarly composed.
Also serving both festivals this year, the Third Annual Garden of Earthly Delights beer and wine garden will be located at the sunny park site from noon until 5 p.m., serving only local beer and wine, including Icicle Brewing's Bootjack IPA and Snowgrass Winery's Menagerie Merlot. Samples for both beer and wine will be $5 each.
All in all, Summerfest/Rods on the River will be events you won't want to miss on the first day of summer!
