Wag your way through First Friday
First Friday will host Dog's Night Out on Sept. 6.
The evening is dedicated to making every dog's tail wag with delight.
"We like to say it's the dog's chance to bring their humans to town," said Cindy Salazar, Executive Director of the Historic Downtown Chelan Association.
Dog's Night Out will include an array of activities and events, including a Doggy Photo Contest, a Canine Carnival, a Doggy Pool Party, and the making of Memorial Pet Collars for those four-legged friends who have passed on.
The carnival will include scent challenges, IQ tests, sitting competitions and an obstacle course.
The pool party, put on by Coldwell Banker, will include a bobbing for apples style competition, only in this case it will be bobbing for hot dogs.
There will also be a Trail of Treats, with participating businesses offering dog treats to all who come asking.
But it's not all about the pooches. There will be plenty going on for owners as well, including Artist in Action Tracy Fraker, who will be at Main Street Gallery, free crafts for kids at the Lake Chelan Historical Museum, and live music at Campbell's Bistro.
"It's been a good summer as a whole for downtown businesses," said Salazar. "We had lots of foot traffic this year, a definite increase. The businesses really support the First Friday events, and the Dog's Night Out is a special one."
This will be the sixth anniversary of Dog's Night Out.
