The Manson Community Library held its end-of-summer reading party on Aug. 14.
It started off with a magic show performed by readers Zoe Thomas and Thea Batch. Those attending then made two different crafts and listened to stories read by library board member Geri Bloch. Cupcakes and juice were served and then the announcement of Bonus Prizes were up next.
The big winners of the summer were Daisy Monje and Ian Calderon who both received brand new bikes that were donated by the Brewster Masons. Also winning bikes were Kimberly Calderon and Zoe Thomas, which were donated by Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart presented the Manson Library with a check of $1,200 to cover the cost of two bikes and allowing $1,000.00 to go towards updates to the library.
Other winners were:
Xen Regan & Victor Calderon winning I-Pod shuffles
Evelyn DeJesus, Gustavo Villasenor & Cameron Willoughby all won day passes donated by Slidewaters.
Angel Pinea & Maria Villasenor won quilts donated by The Comforters.
Dustin Hansberry was the winner of the gummi worm guessing game.
All kids that signed up for the reading program earned one reading ticket for every hour they read. They were able to use their tickets to purchase fun prizes from the "reading store". A total of 129 kids signed up for the program, reading more than 2,400 hours throughout the summer.
Also donating to the summer reading program was: Manson Kiwanis Club, Manson Red Apple Market, Green Dot Sub Shop, Chelan Rotary Club and the Fortnightly club. The Lake Chelan Reclamation Distric, Manson Grange Hall and the Manson Parks Dept. also donated the use of their facilities.
