The Lake Chelan Rotary Club installed its new officers at a dinner held at the Winemakers Grill in Manson. The event culminated another excellent year for the Lake Chelan Rotary Club who recently held the 11th anniversary Century Challenge and Cycle de Vine bike rides that exceeded all past years in registrations and in proceeds to support community and international projects. This year also was an ambitious year by completing remodeling of the new Chelan Valley Hope/Food Bank building, On August 16 the new year will again start with the annual Salmon Barbecue at Riverwalk Park as a part of the Fine Arts Festival. The barbecue raises money for scholarships for Chelan and Manson students. This past May a total of $20,000 was awarded to students.
Tim Hollingsworth, who completed his year as president, installed the new 2014-2015 officers who included new President Jeff Fehr, President-Elect Jordana LaPorte, Vice-President Kevin Abel, Treasurer Jan Fedor, and Secretary Paul Schmidt. Also serving on the Board of Directors this next year will be Morgan Picton, Aaron Evans, Bruce Hurst, and Lexy Lieurance.
New President Jeff Fehr, a Chelan attorney, challenged the club with his goals for this year which will include community improvement projects, scholarship development, implementation of the benefits of a new approved charitable fund, and international projects in Africa. In attendance were also officers of Chelan High School Interact, the high school service club sponsored by Lake Chelan Rotary. Their international project this next year will be a group going to Nicaragua for various service projects.
Lake Chelan Rotary was chartered in 1926 and has been going strong ever since.  Currently over 60 men and women are active members. The weekly meeting is held at Campbell's Resort each Tuesday beginning at 11:45 a.m. The club is always welcoming to community members, dedicated to community service, who would be interested in membership.
