Chelan School Board briefs:
thankful to voters
At last Tuesday's Lake Chelan School Board meeting, directors and administrators praised Chelan residents for voting yes on the recent Special Election levy.
"We are proud and thankful to the community for supporting our schools," MOE Principal Jeff Peck said. "The levy dollars help our students with the programs, Afters and others that are not funded by basic education dollars."
Peck when on to praise voters, saying in 2008, they passed a bond to for a new kitchen at MOE and a community gym remodel.
"That bond was paid off," Peck said. "It feels really good. That was again was supported by our taxpayers, we've taken that money and put it into good use. We couldn't have done it without their support."
Leadership students from MOE were present at last week's school board meeting, briefing directors on all activities they are working on.
Lisa Gleasman heads the leadership group, and meets with the students once a month.
Leadership students at MOE are responsible for setting up spirit weeks, days and assemblies. They also help out with hall monitoring.
Lake Chelan School Board directors approved the hiring of high school softball coach Jim Burbery and High School girls basketball assistant coach Kristin Schramm. They also approved the retirement requests from Mike Haerling, Barb Polley and Karen Wegner.
