Chelan's young players came out on the short end at Okanogan, 21-6.

On the flip side Okanogan also, a young team played a very opportunistic game. Chelan is young in most positions, but growing weekly and there were some bright spots from the veterans of the team like Mikey LaHaye's performance on the defensive line, with six solo tackles and one assist.

Chelan's players will have no rest or time to contemplate as they face an undefeated Cashmere squad that had crushed mightily its first three opponents, including Cascade Christian who has appeared in the Tacoma Dome the past three years in a row winning State two years ago, and falling to Connell a year ago, and three years ago.

Get ready as anything can happen in the "Bronze Shoe" game in memory of Coach Bill Lippincott who played his high school football in Okanogan, college at WSU (football and basketball), then started his coaching career in Cashmere, and finished and retired here at Chelan.

Both teams enjoy talking about the "Bronze Shoe" and Coach Lippincott's contribution to both high schools. Thanks "Coach and Mrs. Lippincott" for all the years you coached and mentored kids, and for the excitement that this games brings to both communities.

Offensively Konnar Stevens led all Chelan rushers, with 13 carries for 82 yards and one TD. Kai Clausen had another good night with nine carries for 73 yards rushing. Freshman Luke Gleasman is learning what it feels like to be a QB on the varisty level and improving each week.

Defensively Bobby Anderson was the leading tackler with 13 tackles (nine solos and four assists). Followed by Erick Oscarson, with nine tackles (five solos and four assists), and Dillon Morrison had eight tackles (four solos and four assists). Kai Clausen had eight tackles (three solos and five assists), with Mikey LaHaye having the biggest night from the defensive line position where he takes on double teams most of the time, and then fights through the double team to get to the ball carries. Mikey had seven tackles (six solos and one assist). Asa Schwartz had five tackles (five solos), and Alex Cortez had five tackles (four solos and one QB Sack). Tanner Hendricks had four tackles (four solos), along with fellow defensive back Zach Burchett with three solo tackles. Newcomer sophomore Francisco Arteaga had two solo tackles, and Eli Jenkins had two tackles (one solo and one assist). Another first year player Luis Garcia had two tackles (one solo and one assist), and Konnar Stevens had one solo tackle on the night.

Special Teams kickoff coverage was very good, and kick off returner Mykey Flowers showed off his running and cutting ability on a great 22 yard return through a Okanogan maze of players.

"Bronze Shoe" game kickoff at Chelan's Sargent Field will be at 7 p.m., Friday, Sept. 21. Come and enjoy a great game and all the hard work the players from both teams have put over the summer and early fall.
