Chelan Goats football team loses season opener against South Whidbey
Matt Baide

The Chelan Mountain Goats football team played a tough game against South Whidbey, but fell 28-22 in Travis Domser's head coaching debut for Chelan.
Chelan's Kai Clausen was a work horse, racking up 140 yards on the ground while Tanner Hendricks had 129 yards passing. The team racked up 369 yards of total offense, including 240 rushing yards and 129 receiving yards.
The defense played stellar by forcing three South Whidbey turnovers. Asa Schwartz was big on defense with a fumble recovery, two sacks and 10 tackles with three of those tackles for a loss. Chelan's Donny Watson also had a fumble recovery and Mikey Flowers notched an interception.
Chelan will go on the road to take on Naches Valley this Friday before the team has its home opener on Sept. 20 against Okanogan.
