Chelan tennis added another win to its belt this last Tuesday, March 25 at home against the Quincy Jacks.
The Chelan girls swept Quincy. Chelan's Megan Robinson, Shelby Dietrich and Allie Schwantes all won their singles matches. In doubles, Chelan's Sarah Kunkel and Abby Phelps along with Kaylie Kronbauer and Vanessa Miller each earned wins.
"The girls are off to a 10-0 start in individual matches played this year, great start," Chelan Coach Marty Rothlisberger said.
For the boys, Chelan won four of the five matches. Chelan singles competitors Eli Jenkins, Bon Malana and Tanner Hendricks all earned wins. In doubles, Chelan's Javier Navarro and Collin Hendricks defeated Quincy's Gunnar Peterson and Gonzo Guerrero in three sets. Chelan lost the first set 6-2, but came back in the second set, 6-3, to tie the match at a set a piece. Chelan's duo won the third set, 6-2, to take the match.
"This was a great win for Javier and Collin, who adjusted to a more aggressive style of play after losing the first set, and finished strong to win the match," Rothlisberger said.

Chelan travelled to Omak last Thursday, March 27 to take on the Pioneers. It was close in both the boys and girls matches, but the Goats prevailed in both.
The Girls faced its first true test of the season, prevailing 3-2 against Omak.
In singles play, Megan Robinson and Shelby Dietrich earned wins for Chelan. In doubles, Chelan's Sarah Kunkel and Abby Phelps faced Omak's Danielle Berntsen and Alex O'Dell. Chelan took the first set, 6-2, but Omak came back and grabbed the second set, 6-1. Chelan regained its composure and won the match with a 6-2 third set win.
The boys team was in a close match with Omak, with Chelan prevailing 3-2. All three Chelan singles players earned wins.
The closest match was Chelan's Bon Malana defeating Omak's Cody Smith. Malana earned the first set, 6-4, but lost the second set, 7-5. Malana prevailed in the third set, 7-5.
"One of the gutsiest third set comebacks I've ever seen, and the comeback was what keyed the team win for the boys," Rothlisberger said. "Bon was down 3-5 in the third set, fought off four match points, and won four straight games to win the match. Fantastic heart, effort and mental toughness."
Chelan's Eli Jenkins defeated Omak's Gabe Holz, 6-1, 6-2. Chelan's Tanner Hendricks earned a straight sets win over Omak's Matt Pearce, 6-3, 6-3.
"This was a massive early season win for the boys over a tough Omak team," Rothlisberger said. "The Omak boys squad features five seasoned fourth-year seniors anchoring their roster, and is therefore one of the pre-season favorites to win the CTL. On paper, Chelan was not supposed to win this match, but you couldn't tell the Chelan boys that. They view themselves as contenders, and proved it. With a roster of three seniors (none of them fourth year seniors), one junior and three freshman, the Chelan boys handed Omak their first loss of the season on Omak's home court. I'm very proud of our team."
