Chelan soccer loses to Brewster
Chelan soccer looked as if it was going to pick up a big win at Brewster last Tuesday, April 1, but the Bears clawed back in the second half to earn a 2-1 win.
The Goats started the game off well, as freshman Cristian Barajas scored in the third minute as a defensive breakdown by Brewster left Barajas alone with the Brewster goalie, slipping the shot past the keeper and into the net for a 1-0 lead.
Chelan was able to hold off the Brewster attack for the rest of the first half. But in the 59th minute, the Bears broke through Chelan's defense and tied the game at one. In the 60th minute, Brewster broke through again and took the lead, 2-1. From that point, Chelan pressed to get a tying goal, but were unsuccessful as the Bears won the game.
"Chelan had some good opportunities, but was unable to find the back of the net again," Chelan assistant coach Jim Broome said.
Chelan took on Cascade on the road this past Tuesday, April 8. The Goats will take on Quincy at Mountain Goat Field on Thursday, April 10, and will end the week on the road against Tonasket this Saturday, April 12.
