Chelan boys earn league title

The Chelan tennis team had a slate of three matches to end the regular season last week, earning wins in all three matches.
Last week started Tuesday, May 6, with the Goats traveling to Quincy to take on the Jacks, with Chelan boys and girls coming away with wins.
The boys faced tough competition against Quincy, but were able to earn a 3-2 win. All three Chelan singles players, Eli Jenkins, Bon Malana and Bryce Robison earned wins in straight sets.
The Chelan girls breezed through the match against Quincy, sweeping the matches, 5-0. Chelan's Megan Robinson defeated Quincy's Kathy Ayala in straight sets without losing a game, 6-0, 6-0.
"Our girls are doing a good job of taking their game to the net more often and getting some easy volleys and overheads, we hope to continue to improve in this area," Chelan Coach Marty Rothlisberger said.

Chelan traveled to Okanogan last Thursday, May 8, playing tennis in rainy and windy conditions. The Chelan boys were able to earn a win, 3-0.
Chelan's Eli Jenkins earned a win against Okanogan's Blake Chesledon in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1. Chelan's Henry Elsner earned a win in his varsity singles debut in straight sets against Okanogan's Jose Alvarez, 6-3, 6-2.
Chelan girls did not record a win because it was rained out. Chelan's Megan Robinson earned a win against Okanogan's Luisa Cardenas in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2. Okanogan won two matches, but two of the matches were rained out which was not enough to constitute an official result.
Last Friday, May 9, the Goats ended the season at home against Tonasket on senior day, with both the boys and girls earning wins.
The Chelan boys earned a win and clinched the CTL league title, earning a 4-1 win against Tonasket. All three Chelan singles, Eli Jenkins, Ben Molana and Bryce Robison earned wins. Chelan's Matt Barnes and Javier Navarro earned a win against Tonasket's Colton Leep and David Moreno in straight sets, 7-5, 6-2. The boys were 11-1 in league and 13-1 overall. In individual matches, the boys were 50-18.
The Chelan girls swept Tonasket, 5-0. The girls finished the season 8-4 overall and 7-4 in league play, finishing in third place. The girls were 43-17 in individual matches.
