Chelan's Joe Harris
drafted by Cleveland
Chelan native Joe Harris made it to the big show last Thursday, June 26, getting picked with the 33rd selection in the NBA Draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Harris was the third pick in the second round of the draft. He recently finished his senior season at the University of Virginia, leading the Cavaliers to an ACC regular-season title, leading Virginia to a school record tying 30 wins and an ACC tournament title, with Harris earning the tournament MVP honors. Virginia earned a No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament, but fell in the Sweet 16 to Michigan State.
Harris will join the No. 1 overall selection in the draft Andrew Wiggins in Cleveland. The Cleveland Cavaliers finished the season with a 33-49 record last season, finishing third in the Central Division.
