"A Taste of Manson" - plan something luscious to make with all our yummy local Manson apples. Bring your entry to the Manson Park Office on Pedoi St, Friday May 9, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Categories: apple pies and pastries, cookies and bars, cakes, and miscellaneous/desserts. Children under 12 encouraged to enter. Winners will be announced at the Pageant Friday evening at the High School Gym, with prizes for the winners. On Saturday, come by the Manson Park Office following the parade, and taste all the entries. They will be available by donation. If you need apples to make your scrumptious creation, please call Sarah Cushing 509-888-8184. Story time at the Chelan Library, located at the corner of Emerson and Chelan, is every Wednesday at 11 a.m. Join them for fun, books, songs, finger plays, flannel boards and more. For information call the library at 682-5131.
Seattle choirs join WVC Chamber Choir for concert
Shoreline Community College Chamber Chorale and Shoreline Singers will join the Wenatchee Valley College Chamber Choir in concert in The Grove Recital Hall, Music and Art Center, on the Wenatchee campus Thursday, May 1. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Concert begins at 7 p.m. Admission is by donation. The WVC Chamber Choir is directed by Juel Iwaasa. Fred Lokken directs the Shoreline Chamber Chorale and Shoreline Singers.
Baby rhymin' time

John and Joyce Snyder of Chelan will be celebrating their 85th birthdays as well as their 66th wedding anniversary on May 3, 2014, 2-4 p.m., with an open house at their home 229 E. Chelan Avenue in Chelan. They were married on Dec. 6, 1947 in Moscow, Idaho. No gifts please.
Habitat Hop fundraiser
The annual Habitat Hop fundraiser is Saturday, May 3, at Acacia Wedding and Event Center, located at 319 N. Sanders in Chelan. The event is set to begin at 6 p.m. with a dinner, dance and silent auction. The auction will feature items such as antique Boy Scout memorabilia and one-of-a-kind theme baskets. Tickets to the event are $25 for individuals and $45 for couples, and can be purchased at the Habitiat for Humanity thrift store, Kelly's ACE Harware and at the Lake Chelan Chamber of Commerce.

Clothing and accessories will be given away on May 3 and 17, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Riverwalk Closet, located at Chelan Riverwalk Church on the corner of Emerson Street and Okanogan Avenue in Chelan. Clothing etc. is given away the 1st and 3rd Saturdays every month. To donate items call April at 682-3151.
Echo Valley work party
There will be a work party at Echo Valley Ski & Tubing area, on Sunday, May 4, beginning at 10 a.m. Please bring gloves and your lunch. The season was short, but there's work to be done to get the ski hill put to bed for the summer. They willbe taking down ropes, deflating inner tubes, rolling snow fence, and cleaning the lodge. If you can help or know students who need community service hours, please join us on the hill.
Greater Wenatchee Mended Hearts to meet
Greater Wenatchee Mended Hearts Chapter 91, Offering Hope and Encouragement to Heart Patients and Their Families in North Central Washington will meet 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m., Monday, May 5 at Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee in Conference Rooms F & G on ground floor. Use the hospital's main entrance parking lot and take the elevator down to ground level. The public is invited to join them and learn about "Implantable Cardiac Devices" from Taro Masuda, Clinical Specialist for Medtronic. Girls Night Out at Lake Chelan Community Hospital
Get ready for the summer sun at May's Girls Night Out event, which will feature an informational presentation by physician assistant Kelly Bainbridge and six local skin care specialists demonstrating products and sharing samples in a mini Skin Care Fair. The event, put on by Lake Chelan Community Hospital, will be held Tuesday, May 6 in the hospital board room from 6:30 - 8 p.m. Community vendors include Chelan Valley Spa, Campbell's River Room Spa, Avon, Mary Kay, Aloette and Modere. This is a wellness event open to women of all ages. Come get pampered!
Wellness Group Cancer Support Group
