Bighorns score new home court: Wenatchee Valley College to host semi-pro team

WENATCHEE—The Wenatchee Bighorns, a semi-professional basketball team, have secured a new home court for the 2025 season. They will partner with Wenatchee Valley College in a multi-year deal announced Friday.

After facing challenges with their home venue in the previous two seasons, the Bighorns' move to Wenatchee Valley College signals a step toward organizational stability. The agreement grants the team access to the college's main gymnasium for games, as well as practice and meeting facilities.

“This is an exciting time for the Bighorns Basketball Program,” said owner Shawn Cooprider. “We are thrilled to partner with Wenatchee Valley College in promoting a fun and family oriented product on the court and making a positive impact in the community off the court.”

The collaboration extends beyond facility use, incorporating an internship program for students and a fundraising initiative for the WVC Foundation through the team's nonprofit arm, the Bighorns Day One Charitable Fund.

“Our commitment is beyond the use of their facilities,” said Cooprider. “We want to create a positive impact wherever we go and this will enhance the students and student athletes' experience.”

Brian Kortz, Wenatchee Valley College's athletic director, expressed enthusiasm about hosting the Bighorns. "This will be a great opportunity to see high-level semi-professional competitive sports and entertainment, and we are excited to bring members of our community to campus," Kortz stated.

“We’re thrilled to partner with the Wenatchee Bighorns,” said Faimous Harrison, Wenatchee Valley College President. “Wenatchee Valley College is focused on being a strong regional partner, and serving as the home court for the Bighorns is an honor.”

The Bighorns compete in The Basketball League (TBL), with the season running from March through June. This move to Wenatchee Valley College represents a significant step for the franchise as it seeks to establish deeper roots in the local community.
