Budget workshop, employee recognition on Chelan County Commission docket

CHELAN COUNTY -- Chelan County Commissioners will meet on October 7 and 8 to address county business, including employee recognition, budget discussions, and potential policy changes.

The agenda, released ahead of the meetings, outlines a schedule beginning Monday morning with the recognition of long-serving employees. Jason Krawczyk of the Regional Jail and Elgin Shaw of the Sheriff's Campus Security will be honored for 25 years of service, while Jessie Laya from Information Technology will be recognized for 10 years with the county.

A portion of the two-day meeting will focus on the 2025 County Budget Workshop.

Natural Resources Director Mike Kaputa is set to present several action items, including property acquisition for Malaga Waterfront Park and a change order for wildfire protection in the Stemilt area.

The commissioners will hold workshops on proposed code amendments, including changes to Title 8.38 and amendments to short-term rental regulations.

Economic Services Director Ron Cridlebaugh is scheduled to discuss an amendment to the Upper Valley Mend CPIF. Details of the amendment were not specified in the agenda.

Public Works Director Eric Pierson's agenda for Tuesday's session includes road vacation hearings and a franchise agreement with the City of Leavenworth. Pierson will also present a resolution to establish County Road Project 761 for a Transportation Element Update.

Community Development Director Deanna Walter is set to present a letter of support for a 2026 Comprehensive Plan Update Grant Application.

The meetings will include executive sessions for discussions on union negotiations and real estate matters.

The commissioners' decisions during these meetings may affect the region's development, infrastructure, and fiscal policies for the coming year.
