Chelan falls to Chewelah in season opener

Posted

CHEWELAH — The Chelan Mountain Goats stumbled in their season opener, falling to the Chewelah Cougars 23-7 in a non-league football matchup Friday night at Snyder Field.

Despite high hopes for the new season, Chelan struggled to find their footing against a determined Chewelah squad. The Mountain Goats' offense sputtered throughout the game, managing to put only seven points on the board.

Chewelah's defense proved to be the difference-maker, consistently stifling Chelan's attempts to gain momentum. The Cougars' offense capitalized on their opportunities, building a lead that the Mountain Goats couldn't overcome.

The loss puts Chelan at 0-1 for the season, while Chewelah starts strong at 1-0.

Looking ahead, Chelan faces another challenge as they prepare to host the Brewster Bears (0-1). The Bears are also coming off a loss, having fallen to Reardan 39-14 in their season opener.

As Chelan regroups from this defeat, the team's focus will be on improving their offensive output and tightening up their defense. The Mountain Goats will need to show significant improvement if they hope to secure their first win of the season against Brewster.
