Chelan native Kristina Buche joins Community Center staff

CHELAN — Kristina Buche, a Chelan native with a background in public service and a passion for community, has joined the Lake Chelan Community Center as front desk receptionist and administrative assistant—positioned at what staff call “the place where first impressions are made.”

Buche, described by the Center’s leadership as someone who embodies the values of community and hospitality, will be the first point of contact for visitors entering the facility.

“I have a heart for helping people,” Buche said, explaining the motivation behind her work and her decision to take on the role. Her most recent experience includes working the front desk at Lake Chelan Hospital, where she served patients and visitors during overnight shifts. Despite working the graveyard shift, she remained active in her children’s lives. As a “very involved mom,” she said she often chose family time over rest.

“Kristina’s a good fit with her new role because she has a heart for kids,” said Maribel Cruz, executive director of the Lake Chelan Community Center. Buche’s position will be especially vital as the Community Center prepares to open the Lake Chelan Valley Boys and Girls Club, which will be housed in the same building.

Her ties to the center extend beyond her role at the front desk. Her husband, Matt Buche, worked on the construction of the building as part of the Rimmer and Roeter crew that helped complete the facility.

“The Boys and Girls Club is going to be ‘the spot to be,’ and the Community Center is a fantastic facility for it to call home,” Kristina Buche said. She encourages community members to stop by and introduce themselves.

“I’ll help you find what you’re looking for with a smile,” she said.

The Lake Chelan Community Center serves as a hub for local activities and services aimed at improving quality of life for residents throughout the valley. The Boys and Girls Club will provide a safe and supportive environment for youth in Chelan, Manson, and surrounding areas.
