CHELAN — Cliff House emerged victorious in the 2024 Memorial Cup Match Play Tournament hosted by the Chelan Men's Golf Club, edging out Gary Searle in a closely contested championship round that extended to extra holes.
The single-elimination tournament, which took place throughout June and July, saw 29 club members compete for the prestigious title. House and Searle were deadlocked after 18 holes, necessitating a playoff where House ultimately clinched the win.
Notable performances came from Bob Carleton and Tom King, both of whom advanced to the semi-final round after winning three consecutive matches.
The club's focus now shifts to the upcoming 2024 Apple Cup, scheduled for July 20-21. This event, the club's largest annual tournament, serves as its primary community fundraising initiative.
Following the Apple Cup, members will commence play in the 2024 President's Cup Match Play Tournament on July 31. This event features a double-elimination format, contrasting with the Memorial Cup's single-elimination structure.
For those interested in participating or seeking more information, registration forms are available at the Chelan Golf Course Pro Shop, and additional details can be found on the club's website at www.chelangolfclub.com.
