Posted

CHELAN - The Indigenous Roots and Reparation Foundation (IRRF) will present "Fish War," followed by a discussion with filmmaker Mary Big Bull Lewis on Thursday, March 20, at the Ruby Theatre in Chelan. The event begins at 7 p.m., with doors opening at 6:30 p.m.

The screening is part of the Ruby U series, which aims to "inform, educate, and challenge the understanding of ourselves, our community, and our valley now and into the future."

"Fish War" examines the complex history of tribal fishing rights in the Pacific Northwest, documenting decades-long struggles over treaty rights and resource management.

Big Bull Lewis, an award-winning Indigenous filmmaker whose previous works have appeared at several international film festivals, will lead a post-screening discussion exploring themes presented in the documentary.

The IRRF, established in 2021, is an Indigenous-led nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving history, culture, traditions and language through education and advocacy. The foundation works "to create a community where Indigenous cultures thrive and are honored."

No admission fee will be charged for this program, according to event organizers.
