CHELAN — A Chelan man was arrested after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend and barricaded himself in a bedroom with firearms, according to the Chelan County Sheriff's Office.
Judson Biggs, 40, was booked into the Chelan County Regional Justice Center on charges of second-degree domestic violence assault, obstructing law enforcement, and resisting arrest. He also had several outstanding warrants.
Deputies responded to a report of a domestic assault in Chelan on July 15. The victim told deputies that on the previous day, Biggs had kicked them down some stairs and choked them with his hands during an assault.
On July 18, deputies located Biggs at a residence on Chelan Butte Road. After obtaining a search warrant, deputies attempted to call Biggs out of the residence and advised him that he was under arrest. Several individuals inside the home exited and informed deputies that Biggs had access to firearms and had barricaded himself in a bedroom.
"Due to these circumstances the East Cascade SWAT Team was activated," the Chelan County Sheriff's Office said in a press release.
Before the SWAT team arrived, Biggs opened a window and yelled at deputies on the scene. Deputies deployed less lethal pepper balls into the room, and shortly thereafter, Biggs surrendered.
A quantity of suspected fentanyl was found inside the bedroom, and Biggs may face additional narcotics charges pending testing of the substance.
