CHELAN — The North Central Washington chapter of Braver Angels is launching a new initiative called the "Bridging the Divide Series," beginning with a civic forum focused on presidential executive orders later this month.

The inaugural event, titled "The Stroke of a Pen - Understanding Executive Orders," will take place on May 29 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Chelan Fire Station, located at 232 E Wapato Ave in Chelan.

According to organizers, the forum will examine various perspectives on "the historical and current use of Presidential executive orders to govern." The event is structured to encourage broad participation, and organizers emphasize that "in-depth knowledge of Presidential executive orders is not required" for attendees.

Braver Angels, a national organization, describes itself as being "committed to bringing together 'Red' and 'Blue' perspectives in a respectful way to help strengthen our democratic republic." The local chapter states it is "dedicated to fostering widespread commitment to increasing civil dialogue on complex and challenging public policy issues in North Central Washington."

The May 29 forum is free to attend, but space is limited to 60 participants. Registration is being handled through Eventbrite under "Braver Angels, Chelan, May 29.
