Turnovers costly as Manson falls to Cle Elum-Roslyn 21-17

CLE ELUM — The Cle Elum-Roslyn Warriors overcame a 10-point deficit to defeat the Manson Trojans 21-17 in a non-league high school football matchup Friday night.

The Trojans, who had bested the Warriors for the past three years, appeared poised to continue their winning streak early in the game. Manson built a 17-7 lead, but momentum shifted dramatically when Cle Elum-Roslyn returned an interception for a touchdown.

Turnovers proved costly for Manson. A fumble in the red zone squelched another scoring opportunity, while a subsequent 30-plus yard reception by Cle Elum-Roslyn set up the game-winning drive.

Manson quarterback Vince Strecker showed flashes of brilliance, including a 40-yard touchdown run where he eluded multiple defenders. Strecker finished 10-of-21 passing for 100 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions, while adding 75 yards rushing on 17 carries.

Defensively, Manson's Chris Vazquez was a standout with two interceptions and four tackles. He also contributed a 35-yard field goal on special teams.

The Trojans' ground game saw contributions from Jaxon Teague (11 carries, 52 yards) and Cooper Pinski (9 carries, 35 yards). Quinn Williams led Manson receivers with five catches for 36 yards and a touchdown.

Manson (0-1) will look to rebound in their home opener against Lind-Ritzville on September 13. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
