WENATCHEE- Quincy Vassar, a left-handed pitcher for the Wenatchee AppleSox, has been named West Coast League Pitcher of the Week following a commanding performance in Game 2 of the North Division Series.

Vassar, a senior at Vanguard University, delivered a complete game on Sunday night, allowing just one run over nine innings. The Brewster native demonstrated remarkable endurance, throwing a career-high 118 pitches while striking out eight batters and walking only one.

Despite surrendering ten hits, Vassar's composure on the mound was evident as he stranded eight runners and recorded three 1-2-3 innings. His ability to work out of jams was particularly noteworthy in the fourth and fifth innings, where he left two men on base in consecutive frames. In the sixth inning, with bases loaded, Vassar induced a crucial inning-ending double play.

This accolade comes on the heels of an All-Star regular season for Vassar, who posted a 4-3 record with a 2.91 ERA over 49.1 innings. His 38 strikeouts against 14 walks underscored his control and effectiveness throughout the season.

Vassar's performance marks a significant milestone for the AppleSox franchise. He is the first starter to throw a nine-inning complete game, in either regular season or postseason play, since Hunter Boyd achieved the feat on July 18, 2018, against Portland. Moreover, Vassar's outing represents the team's first complete game in the postseason since Trevor Lubking's eight-inning, one-run performance against Corvallis in the WCL Championship Series.

The AppleSox now face a critical Game 3 against the Victoria HarbourCats in the North Division Series. The winner will advance to face the victor of the Bellingham-Edmonton series in the North Division Championship. Should Wenatchee prevail, they would host the championship game at Paul Thomas Sr. Stadium on Wednesday.

As the team looks to capitalize on Vassar's momentum, they have announced half-price tickets for tonight's decisive game, with seats available for as low as $4 through their website.
