CHELAN - The 2025 golf season has officially begun at Lake Chelan Golf Course, with the Lake Chelan Ladies Golf Club commencing play despite lingering cool temperatures..

Opening Day took place on March 27, drawing six participants who braved the chilly conditions to kick off the new season. The inaugural event featured a "Surprise Opener" competition format that scored players based on their five best holes plus four worst holes, less half their handicap, with an additional three-stroke deduction for a "field goal" on hole 14.

In Division 1, Linda Reister and April Talley tied for first place, each finishing with a score of 32. Loa Servis claimed first place in the combined Division 2 and 3 category with a score of 34.5.

The opening day also featured notable individual achievements. Reister recorded a birdie on hole 18, while Talley secured birdies on holes 1 and 15. Both Reister and Talley also registered chip-ins on hole 18.

By the following week, on April 3, participation nearly doubled with eleven players competing in the Monthly Medal competition, which rewards low gross and net scores by division, along with fewest putts.

In Division 1 results, April Talley won low gross with a score of 90, while Linda Reister secured low net with 78 and also led the division with the fewest putts at 32.

Division 2 saw Gena Fateley win low gross with 98, as Elona Teague claimed low net with 82 and fewest putts with 38.

In Division 3, Judy Johanson led with a low gross score of 108, Loa Servis won low net with 75, and Johanson recorded the fewest putts at 31.

No birdies or chip-ins were recorded during the April 3 competition, and the KP (closest to the pin) pot will carry over to future events.

Club officials noted that seasonal members who winter in warmer climates are gradually returning to the area, which is expected to increase participation in upcoming events as the spring season progresses.
