WENATCHEE — The DubSea Fish Sticks edged out the Wenatchee AppleSox 5-4 in a closely contested non-league game on Monday night at Paul Thomas Sr. Stadium.

Despite a valiant effort to mount a late comeback, the AppleSox fell short against their opponents. Jayden Holloway was a bright spot for Wenatchee, going 2-for-4 at the plate and driving in a run with a single in the fourth inning.

The Fish Sticks jumped out to an early 3-0 lead, scoring two runs on a double in the third inning and adding another in the fourth. Wenatchee managed to tie the game by scoring three runs against their former pitcher, Blake Reece. Holloway's RBI single and a pair of errors by DubSea helped the AppleSox even the score in the fifth.

However, the Fish Sticks regained the lead in the seventh and tacked on an insurance run in the eighth, which proved crucial as Wenatchee could only muster one run in the bottom half of the inning, leaving the tying run stranded at third base.

The AppleSox, who have won five straight league games, will look to continue their winning ways on Tuesday night when they open a three-game series against the Yakima Valley Pippins at Yakima County Stadium. The team will return home on Friday to begin a six-game homestand, with tickets available for purchase at applesox.com/schedule.
