Lake Chelan Health offers vital babysitting skills course

Posted

CHELAN -- Lake Chelan Health (LCH) Emergency Medical Services is set to offer its annual Safe Sitter course on July 8 and 9. The two-day program, aimed at students in grades 6-8, will take place at the LCH EMS Building from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. each day.

The course is designed to equip youth aged 11-14 with essential skills for babysitting and staying home alone safely.

The curriculum offers hands-on practice in lifesaving techniques and comprehensive instruction that includes:

  • Understanding how a child’s age affects care
  • Techniques to prevent problem behavior
  • Strategies to run a babysitting business
  • Basic first aid, including infant and child choking rescue and CPR

SafeSitter® is a medically accurate, up-to-date babysitting course that provides youth with essential life and safety skills.

The $50 registration fee includes lunch and snacks for both days. Due to limited space, interested parties are encouraged to register promptly through the Lake Chelan Health website at www.lakechelanhealth.org/wellness/safe-sitter.

Lake Chelan Health officials emphasize the course's medical accuracy and up-to-date curriculum as key factors in preparing young sitters for potential emergencies.
