One dead, one injured in early morning RV fire

Posted

CHELAN — A residential fire in Chelan early Monday morning left one person dead and another injured, officials said.

The blaze, which erupted around 1:16 a.m. on Ariel Lane, engulfed a fifth-wheel trailer and spread to two sheds, two vehicles, and ignited a quarter-acre brush fire, according to Chelan Fire and Rescue Chief Asher.

Upon arrival, fire crews found the trailer fully involved, with flames threatening multiple nearby RVs. Firefighters prioritized containing the brush fire to prevent further spread before tackling the main blaze.

One person reportedly sustained burns and was transported to Lake Chelan Community Hospital by a private citizen before emergency responders arrived on scene. Tragically, after gaining access to the fifth-wheel trailer, firefighters discovered one deceased individual along with several pets.

The cause of the fire remains unknown and is currently under investigation by the Chelan County Fire Marshal and Chelan County Sheriff's Office.

Chelan Fire and Rescue responded to the incident alongside Chelan County Fire District #5. The fire's rapid spread and the presence of multiple threatened structures presented significant challenges for the responding crews.

Authorities have not yet released the identities of the victims or provided an estimate of the property damage. More information is expected as the investigation progresses.
