SWAT Team defuses armed standoff in Entiat

Posted

ENTIAT — A potentially dangerous situation in Entiat was peacefully resolved on Tuesday when law enforcement successfully apprehended an armed man experiencing a mental health crisis.

Chelan County deputies responded to a disturbance call at approximately 11:03 a.m. in the 15000 block of US Highway 97A. The subject, identified as Dalton Olson, 32, of Wenatchee, had armed himself with a high-powered rifle at his mother's residence.

According to authorities, Olson's mother managed to leave the premises safely and was met by responding deputies. The investigation revealed that Olson was prohibited from possessing firearms due to a prior incident and an existing court order.

When initial attempts to contact Olson failed, the East Cascade SWAT Team (ECST) was called to assist. The specialized unit was deployed after detectives from the Chelan County Sheriff's Office obtained a search warrant for Olson and any firearms in his possession.

Using tactical expertise, the ECST successfully took Olson into custody without incident. He is expected to face two counts of unlawful possession of firearms under Washington state law.

The investigation is ongoing, according to officials.
