Two men shot, one fatally, in early morning incident near Chelan

CHELAN - A shooting early Friday morning left one man dead and another critically injured near Chelan, according to the Chelan County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies responded to a 911 call at 4:58 a.m., reporting gunshots in the area of Stayman Flats Road and Summer Camp Road. Upon arriving at the scene, they discovered two Hispanic men with gunshot wounds.

A 49-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. The other victim, a 40-year-old man, was transported to Central Washington Hospital and then airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. He remains in critical condition.

Investigators believe this was an isolated incident and say there is no known ongoing threat to the public. The identities of the victims have not been released pending notification of next of kin.

No suspects have been named, and no arrests have been made at this time. The Chelan County Sheriff's Office says the investigation is ongoing, and no further details are being released at this stage.
