EDMONTON, Alberta  — The Wenatchee AppleSox dropped their weekend series against the Edmonton Riverhawks, falling 4-2 on Sunday afternoon at RE/MAX Field.

Despite scoring in the top of the first inning for the second consecutive game, the AppleSox (29-16, 11-7 second half) were unable to maintain their early advantage. The Riverhawks mounted a decisive four-run rally in the second inning, stringing together five consecutive singles to take control of the game.

Evan Cloyd opened the scoring for Wenatchee with a two-out RBI single in the first. The AppleSox's only other run came in the eighth inning when Aidan Dougherty delivered an infield single. Dougherty had a productive day at the plate, going 3-for-4 and stealing his 19th base of the season, placing him third in the franchise's single-season record books.

The loss highlighted recent offensive struggles for Wenatchee, marking the fourth time in five games they have been held to five runs or fewer. The team's difficulties were compounded by grounding into two double plays on Sunday, bringing their total to five over the two weekend losses.

Wenatchee will look to bounce back as they continue their road trip, facing the Kelowna Falcons on Monday night at 6:35 p.m.
